Meet Georgina
Hi, I’m Georgina Oxley, I’m 28 years old and I live in Chelsea with my partner and my dog Banjo! I’ve lived in Kingston my whole life; I grew up in Kingston and hope to one day start my own family in our wonderful community.
My family live in Kingston too! My mum is an Edithvale local and she works as a Mental Health Nurse. My Nanna is 93 and lives in Mentone. She'd want me to tell you that even though she's 93 her goal is to stick around till 100 so she can get her letter from the Queen that I promised her when I was 8 years old.
I run a business with my partner based locally in Kingston and we enjoy the challenges, flexibility and fun that running your own business can bring, but there's no denying that running your own business is hard work and keeps us on our toes!
I was first elected to Council in 2016 and was elected Deputy Mayor in 2017/18. In 2018/19 I had the honour of being elected Mayor for the City of Kingston and at the time Australia’s youngest ever female Mayor. I was elected Mayor again in 2019/20 for a second consecutive term.
Prior to my time on Council, I was an active member of Kingston Council’s Youth Advisory Committee for 7 years where I was a strong voice for young people in Kingston. Now, along with being on Council, I currently serve on the board of the Youth Affairs Council Victoria, the peak body and leading policy advocate for young people.
I love spending time out and about in our community. I enjoy walking my dog in our local parks and at the beach as well as spending time in our local shopping strips – particularly at cafes with a nice chai latte or the local Thai restaurants.
In my spare time I also play basketball twice a week for the OMBC Panthers and go to the gym for a bit of exercise and stress relief.
If you see me out and about, feel free to come and say hello I’d love to meet you.
